West of Limoges, on the border between Aquitaine and Limousin, the Périgord-Limousin Nature Park has a preserved environment and a rich heritage. Chestnut tree forests, white water rivers, valleys, a limestone plateau where orchids grow in the summer... The park is a mosaic of surprising landscapes, home to many flora and fauna species. Come watch the eagles soar, discover magic fountains once used by pilgrims for their healing powers, take a trip on a track car or listen to the stags bellowing. Take part in one of the area's many exciting festivals, taste local dishes, relax in a gîte or a WWF Panda bed and breakfast, dedicated to protecting the environment.

The park is a land of traditional savoir-faire (with chestnut wood furniture and basket-making), festivals (owl's night, chestnut, honey, mushroom and veal fairs...). Museums, churches, castles are a tribute to the area's eventful past : Richard the Lion Heart's trail.

Do not miss : Château de Châlus, Limousin's only "green trail" (Hauts de Tardoire) for cycling/rollerblading/hiking, Espace Hermeline adventure park : tree fun park, "vélo-rail" (pedal cars on an old railway), Saint Eutrope church in Les Salles Lavauguyon (some of France's finest frescoes), hot air ballon rides, Puycheny tile museum and workshop, Saint-Yrieix and its famous madeleine cakes...
